At just nine years old, I used to wake up at 4:30 a.m. to practice hitting a baseball up and down our street. That competitive spirit led to winning a national championship at just ten years old and then becoming an Olympian at twenty-one.

For the past forty years, I’ve been a professional student of human achievement. I’ve been driven by this unshakable question: why do some people succeed and others fail?

After retiring from professional competition, I went back to school to earned advanced degrees in health and wellness. In the decades since then, I’ve worked with athletes in nearly every professional sport, Olympic gold medalists, and millionaire entrepreneurs. I’ve had a front-row seat as I watched these world-class achievers do what they do.

As the athlete ages, the years of training has provided a solid mental and physical base to draw from. However, "quality" becomes so important regarding training sessions, recovery, and nutrition. I've been taking MAP every day, and every race since 2003. Now being in my 40s, I am a consistently faster, stronger, and durable athlete than I was in my 20s and 30s. My old injuries flare up less, and I don't experience new injuries. My immune system is stronger, I sleep better, thus I am able to train more intensely every day than I did prior to MAP. I also compete year-round, and have more consistent podium finishes. MAP is not a supplement for me, rather, it's an integral part of a healthy, balanced diet.

I learned pretty quickly how to take care of myself! However, as with most good things in life, it came to an end. I was too old to play with the boys, so I found an equally crazy sport called triathlon. Since the tender age of 14, I’ve competed all over the world for the British and Scottish triathlon team, developing awesome friendships and seeing some amazing parts of the world.

However, as most young athletes do, I got disillusioned with the sport. Sick of being last in drafting races and constantly banging my head off a brick wall with swimming, I gave it up!

Always having been a creative little thing (I got my BA degree in Drama), I decided to do my Masters degree in Theater. So, through all of this soul searching and artistic expression, I actually realized I missed competing. I started slowly with running (hey why not start with your strengths right?), and after winning a few races, I found that I had a different approach to the sport. I genuinely enjoyed training, I genuinely enjoyed racing and what’s more, my body felt different. It felt more mature and I guess I had a better understanding of how it worked. I didn’t want to do drafting races anymore, I needed to find a sport that suited my strengths instead of crippling me because of my weaknesses….and thats when I found Xterra. Dirt, hills and cool people! I’ll have me some of that!

So now having done 2 seasons of Xterra, my first real winter of proper training (with my new awesome coach Vince Fichera), I am finally fulfilling my potential! I am so excited about this winter as the training is going really well, the film stuff is getting there and married life is sweet….

My mission is not only to enhance your strengths but also to determine your limiting factors. A smarter athlete will always overcome unforeseen challenges presented on race day. I’ll never stop learning and pushing triathlon beyond all limits and I hope to instill TribePride into every athlete I encounter. Having worked my way into the ranks of the professional field in only 5 years, I know my hard work and knowledge base is proven. The bottom line is; I believe with the right mind and healthy body, I can make you the best version of you possible.

I am an elite runner sponsored by Saucony. I began running when I was 14, and being originally from the UK, I loved true cross country courses (the muddier the better), and I realized I was actually pretty good at it. I came over to the US on a full ride scholarship and ended up as an 11 time All-American athlete at Ferris State in Michigan. I then completed my MBA at La Salle University while being an assistant coach. Now I am pursuing some big running goals while working as the Runners Connect Community Manager and Run to the Top Podcast host. I recently ran in the World Half Marathon Championships and the European Championships for Great Britain, which has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I ran a 4 minute PR in the marathon to run a 2:37. There are a few factors that went into these accomplishments, one of which is adding Perfect Amino to my fueling plan. As a runner, what you put in your body to help with recovery can make all the difference, and Body Health has given me another way to make it nice and easy. I take 5-10 Perfect Amino either just after a workout or during the longer ones, and I know it has made a difference to how I have been able to perform and recover on a daily basis.

After running in the 1988 State Cross Country meet in Eugene, Oregon as a high school sophomore, CJ gave up running for nearly 20 years before being drawn back into the sport. CJ caught the “running bug” in 2008 and has not looked back since. He’s dropped over 50 pounds in weight and continues to set new lifetime personal bests as a national class masters runner. CJ has competed in well over 150 races ranging from road 5Ks to trail 50Ks. He enjoys a fast road 5k or a grueling mountain race with lots of elevation gain & loss. Basically, he just plain loves running. CJ and his wife Shelley reside in Colorado Springs, CO where they are spoiled beyond measure with mountains, trails and sunshine.
